New Hit Record

Eugene’s Dan Robertson now holds the record for the most hits recorded in one season in the Northwest League.

He broke the 36 year old record formerly held by James Buckner of Lewiston.

Lewiston had recorded 113 hits in a season and Robertson broke it on Tuesday night.

Buckner hit a single in the seventh inning to tie the record and hit his 21st double of the season later in the game to own the record outright.

Robertson also leads the league in average at .380 and runs scored in 59.

In the game that he tied and broke the 36 year old record, Robertson went 4 for 5 three singles and one double. It was the 11th time this season that he collected three or more hits in a game.

Robertson was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 33rd round of this year’s June’s First-Year Player Draft.

Robertson was also named the NWL MVP for the 2008 season and was named a post-season all-star.
