Dal Canton Passes Away
Former Braves’ Minor League pitching coach extraordinaire Bruce Dal Canton passed away at the age of 66 on Tuesday night.
Dal Canton lost his battle with esophageal cancer.
Dal Canton was the pitching coach with the Class-A Advanced Myrtle Beach Pelicans for the past 10 seasons in the Braves organization.
He left the club in May when a mass was found on his esophagus.
Dal Canton had been a coach within the Braves organization for the previous 26 seasons after completing a 12 year Major League career in which he went 51-49.
Dal Canton pitched for the Pirates, Royals, Braves and White Sox. He spent time with the big club from 1987-1990 before being replaced mid-season of the 1990 year by Leo Mazzone.
He then became the pitching coach for the Triple-A Richmond Braves. Dal Canton spent 1994-1997 with Double-A Greenville and then with the Rookie Level team in 1998.
