Royals Add Six
The Kansas City Royals have signed six players to Minor League contracts.
The deals were announced on Friday.
One of the six players signed is Mexican free agent Federico Castenada, who pitched in the Triple-A Mexican League in 2008.
He posted a 4-1 record with a 4.28 ERA in 58 appearances.
Former Orioles shortstop Luis Hernandez and former Angels’ prospect Corey Smith have signed with the Royals as well. Former Braves’ prospect Carlos Sencion also signed with the Royals.
The other two players to sign Minor League contracts with the club are Tim Hamulack and Matt Wright, both of whom pitched in the Royals’ organization in 2008.
The Royals are still deciding whether or not to invite Castenada, Hamulack, Wright and Sencion to Spring Training as non-roster invitees.
They did invite Hernandez and Smith to camp.
