Dodgers Sign a Few
The Los Angeles Dodgers have added a handful of Major League and Minor League veterans to their Minor League organization for the 2009 season.
A majority of these players will more than likely wind up in Triple-A Albuquerque and a couple of them have a shot at making the Dodgers 25-man roster out of Spring Training.
Former Isotope Valentino Pascucci was signed to a contract. In 2007 with the Isotopes he smashed a then-franchise record 34 homeruns.
In 2008 he started the season with the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs of the Phillies organization and finished with the Mets Triple-A affiliate in New Orleans, the Zephyrs.
Also signed by the Dodgers were pitcher Scott Strickland, infielder Juan Castro, and left handed pitchers Erick Threets and Carmen Cali.
The Dodgers also signed the following players:
RHP Yhency Brazoban (Jacksonville, Las Vegas, Los Angeles NL, GSL Dodgers, DSL Dodgers); RHP Travis Chick (West Tennessee, Tacoma); RHP Nick DeBarr (Durham); OF/1B Mitch Jones (Las Vegas); IF Hector Luna (Syracuse, Toronto); RHP Edgar Martinez (Pawtucket); IF Luis Maza (Las Vegas, Los Angeles NL); LHP Brian Mazone (Lehigh Valley); LHP Jacobo Meque (Inland Empire, Jacksonville); LHP Steven Randolph (Round Rock, Lehigh Valley).
